Going back five years from now, in June 2012, Christine Carlos, a young mother, faced with a sudden problem while playing with her daughter in the sand. She came up with a sad realization that is losing her breath just because she has extra weight on her body and is too lethargic even for a play with her child.
The day when Christine she needs to be in a good condition for growing her daughter motivated her to lose 100 pounds in the year that follows. Everything started with minor change in her everyday diet along with exercise routines, which turned into bigger aims for the near future. Meanwhile she did some research how to lose weight and started reading healthy magazines. She replaced the fried and processed food with meals that contain vegetables, and intake food with minimal carbs, usually having the same menu each day:
- Breakfast consisted of oatmeal and eggs;
- Lunch consisted of salad with home-made vinaigrette; and
- Dinner consisted of fish and vegetables.
Despite this daily menu, Christine allowed her stomach to enjoy into a good cheat meal once a week. More particularly she was enjoying in the taste of burger and sweet potato fries.
Despite the healthy diet that she was consuming, she was drinking plenty of water, or more precisely one gallon of water a day, instead of eating something else. At the beginning she was carrying around a jug of one gallon of water with her, and later replaced the jug with two bottles of half gallon per each. One day happened not to be able to finish the water that she needed to consume for that day, so she added some calorie-free flavouring in it so that can flatter her stomach as drinking something else.
Additionally, Christine did not rely only on the healthy diet. Instead, she started using the treadmill that was in her basement for making cardio of 45 minutes, six days per week. As she started progressing with her healthy regime of living, she joined a gym where she was taught about the advantages and disadvantages of the workout.
One year later, in June 2013, she lost 100 pounds as she promised to herself. The next goal that she set to herself was to enter into a bikini competition, with explanation to push herself further. In order to achieve her second goal, she hired a coach that will help her with the proper exercises need for her and set a new healthy diet for her organism. She explains that through the help of the couch she lifted and re-shaped her body even more successfully than the first year.
She achieved the goal that she set in June 2013 and performed on the bikini competition for two years. She returned to her primary diet, with exception of the cardio exercises, which she replaced them with weightlifting. She is doing weightlifting exercises 5 days a week, and cardio exercises for only 30 minutes a day, 3 days per week. In terms of the food that she is consuming, she consumes nourishing food nowadays, which means that she is focused on green vegetables, proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbs. The most important around her healthy style of living is that she is not depriving her organism.
Once she took a break from the competition training, Christine returned 15 pounds on her body weight, now weighting about 140 pounds. Satisfied with the entire progress that she did, Christine is offering some free advice to all out there that want to make a transformation on their bodies. She explains that you should not run on long paths, but to focus on what you need to do now, at the moment. If your focus goes on how you want your body to look in future, then you will discourage yourself very easily. The fitness is a process during which you will fail many times, which is OK. Most important is to keep pushing forward and love what you are doing, explains Christine.
